Assistant City Manager Moore-Sykes stated she has discussed the <br /> 6 Hennepin County right-of-way in this location with the Public Works Director. Staff will be <br /> 7 watching to ensure there is not an encroachment. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Commissioner Chaput inquired if the School District would consider electronic signage other <br /> 10 than LED if the animation that was previously proposed meets the ordinance requirements. Mr. <br /> 11 Bjornrud replied he believes the School District would compare the pricing. If there is a minimal <br /> 12 cost increase and the technology meets the City ordinance, it is something that could be <br /> 13 considered. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Commissioner Crone inquired if the existing Wilshire Park Elementary sign will remain on the <br /> 16 property. Mr. Bjornrud responded in the affirmative. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Chair Stromgren suggested consideration that if the existing sign at Wilshire Park Elementary <br /> 19 remains it would be part of the total sign area allowable,which would put the signage over the <br /> 20 limit. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 IX. REPORTS FROM STAFF <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Assistant City Manager Moore-Sykes indicated that the Commission has been provided with the <br /> 29 Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors real estate update. St. Anthony is doing a little better <br /> 30 than the City of Minneapolis,but the cities are tracing similarly in all the categories. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 XI. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 None. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 XII. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Commissioner Jensen reported on his presentation to the City Council on the proposed sign <br /> 39 ordinance text amendment. He stated the City Council had a fair amount of debate and it was <br /> 40 commented that the Planning Commission had discussed revenue generation in their <br /> 41 consideration of the text amendment. He pointed out that the conversation of the Commission <br /> 42 was more that the Commission was interested in having the signs have some type of a fair time <br /> 43 horizon so that if the purchase of the signs is done well by the School District or whoever is <br /> 44 administering it, they could achieve some pricing increases. He stated the Council is cutting back <br /> 45 the amount of duration time for the signage to the vicinity of three months or tying it to the high <br /> 46 school baseball schedule, rather than using the baseball season to include spring, summer and fall <br />
