I am with the City of St. Anthony and we are reviewing our <br /> fence ordinance, which is very similar to that of Spring Lake Park. Our <br /> situation is that we have had two requests for increased fences heights and <br /> in each case, the property owner had to apply for a variance. Each one was <br /> granted because the properties which are neighboring and both are situated <br /> adjacent to Silver Lake Road. The 8 foot fences were requested because of <br /> traffic noise and parking lot lights from a neighboring community' s <br /> commercial strip mall located across Silver Lake Road. <br /> My question is, does Spring Lake Park allow for the installation of higher <br /> fences for these sorts of situations or are property owners required to <br /> apply for a variance to the fence height?
