V ` <br /> Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> November 17, 2009 <br /> Page 4 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 Chair Jensen suggested that the December Planning Commission meeting agenda include an <br /> 3 update on Planning Commission recommendations that have not progressed to date. Assistant <br /> 4 City Manager Moore-Sykes noted one issue that reoccurs is the electronic gas pricing sign. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Chair Jensen commented it would be wise to look at what is happening immediately outside the <br /> 7 border and the trends that may make those businesses successful and hinder St. Anthony <br /> 8 businesses. Commissioner Jenson pointed out that there are now electronic signs at schools in the <br /> 9 City. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Commissioner Chaput inquired about the opposition to electronic signs. Commissioner Jenson <br /> 12 noted concerns related to height, illumination and frequent flashing. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Commissioner Chaput commented it may be interesting to see the feedback from residents <br /> 15 around the City with the signs that have been approved for the schools. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 XI. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 None. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 XII. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 X11.1 CODE ENFORCEMENT REPORT <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Assistant City Manager Moore-Sykes informed the Planning Commission that the League of <br /> 26 Minnesota Cities Loss Control Staff will be present at the January 19, 2010 Planning <br /> 27 Commission meeting to provide a presentation on Land Use Ground Rules. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 XH.2. GTS <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Assistant City Manager Moore-Sykes reported that the Government Training Service(GTS) <br /> 32 provides training sessions for new and experienced Planning Commissioners on various Land <br /> 33 Use Planning and Zoning issues. For new commissioners,two sessions,Basics of Planning and <br /> 34 Zoning, and Beyond the Basics of Planning and Zoning, are presented at the beginning of the <br /> 35 year and are highly recommended. The Commission will be provided with the 2010 schedule <br /> 36 when it is available. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Chair Jensen asked if there are applicants for the upcoming Planning Commission vacancy. <br /> 39 Assistant City Manager Moore-Sykes replied that two additional applications have been <br /> 40 submitted. The closing date to submit an application or letter of intent is Friday,November 20`x'. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 XIII.
