<br />The proposed 2015 Capital Equipment Budget totals $386,743. Traditionally, revenue for funding
<br />capital equipment has come from various sources including: transfers from the General Fund and
<br />Utility Funds, profits from Liquor Operations, Liquor Reserve Funds, MSA Revolving Funds,
<br />interest earnings, trade/sale of existing equipment, and the Capital Improvement Levy. A review of
<br />the 2015 revenue and expenditures is as follows:

<br />Grants
<br />To help offset the cost of operations and capital equipment, Staff continues to participate in Federal
<br />and State grants, seeking donations from private sources and partners with local organizations.
<br />During 2014 the City these awards total value was $1,571,552. Therefore the City has received
<br />$18,989,975 in total grants and donations since 1999. When spread over a population of 8,333, this
<br />represents $2,279 per resident.
<br />2014 grants awarded included $770,154 from the Federal Transportation Department for street and
<br />intersection safety improvements within the City. Final designs for these improvements will be
<br />completed in 2015 with constructed beginning in 2016. The City continued to participate in a
<br />longstanding grant program which promotes public safety and alcohol awareness due to the Police
<br />Department’s ability to secure Safe and Sober Grant funding. The City also benefited from
<br />Metropolitan Council shared services I & I Grant associated with the replacement of deteriorated
<br />sewer lines.
