City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />January 13, 2009 <br />Page 4 <br />1 ■ Arbors Neighborhood Meeting is scheduled for January 26th on the petition relating to the <br />2 unimproved alley. <br />3 ■ Council Chamber improvements were recently completed. <br />4 ■ Kids vs. Cops basketball game is scheduled for January 30th at the High School. <br />5 ■ Police Citizen Academy <br />6 ■ Police will be teaching a CSI class at the High School. <br />7 ■ Junior Achievement is scheduled with 2nd grade students for February and March. <br />8 ■ Emerald Park — bid opening will be February 27th. <br />10 Mayor Faust requested Mr. Momson to pass on to the Police Chief the importance of the Police <br />11 Department's work with the children. <br />12 <br />13 Councilmember Thuesen asked if the Water Re -Use Project is complete other than the final <br />14 grading. Mr. Morrison replied it will likely be June or July before the project is up and running. <br />15 The Silver Lake Road Project is under the same timeframe. Work remaining is the final lift, <br />16 sodding and trees to be planted. <br />17 <br />18 Councilmember Stille reported on his attendance at the January 11, 2009 Sister City Association <br />19 meeting. The Association, in conjunction with Salo, is arranging for three students and a teacher <br />20 to attend a summit from Salo's other sister cities throughout Europe and Russia. The Association <br />21 was able to provide $2,500 which covers a good share of the travel expenses. He suggested that <br />22 the students show their presentations to the Council at some time in the future. <br />23 <br />24 Councilmember Thuesen: No report. <br />25 <br />26 Mayor Faust reported on his attendance at the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization <br />27 (MWMO) meeting today, January 13, 2009. The City has received the Freshwater Society <br />28 Award which will be presented at the 8th Annual Road/Salt Symposium. He was re- elected as <br />29 vice chair of the MWMO. The organization will be moving forward with construction of a new <br />30 building and has submitted a letter of intent to purchase a piece of property. Further information <br />31 will be available in a couple of months. <br />32 <br />33 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />34 <br />35 Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that <br />36 are not on the regular agenda. <br />37 <br />38 Hearing none, Mayor Faust moved forward with the agenda. <br />39 <br />40 IX. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br />41 <br />42 Mayor Faust announced the following: <br />43 • Village Notes were recently distributed. <br />44 ■ Three Rivers Park redevelopment work in the northern part of the community may be <br />45 completed ahead of schedule. <br />46 <br />
