He also asked if this street experiences heavier traffic than other streets and therefore
would the mains break down again because of heavy traffic.

City Engineer Hubmer stated that this is a normal state aid route but does have a lot of industrial
truck users and public works truck users.

Councilmember Roth asked if this road would be a seven -ton design.

City Engineer Hubmer replied that the road will be accessible to seven -tons but will be designed
for nine -tons.

Councilmember Roth questioned that if the current infrastructure was built in the 1960s and had
a design life of 40 -plus years, what would the design life of the new infrastructure be.

City Engineer Hubmer stated with the materials used today, the design life would be for 60
years, but would most likely last much longer than 60 years.

Councilmember Gray questioned if the City had guidelines for when they put in sidewalks and/or
street lighting for new streets.

City Engineer Hubmer stated the City has already passed a resolution to install sidewalks and
street lighting for all state aid and municipal state aid highways.

Councilmember Roth wanted to know how staff determines which side of the road to put the
sidewalk.
