City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />April 24, 2007 <br />Page 4 <br />2 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />3 <br />4 City Manager Mornson reported he was a speaker at a City Manager's Seminar dealing with <br />5 crisis communication in April. <br />6 <br />7 City Manager Mornson reported he was part of a League of Minnesota Cities focus group that <br />8 studied changing the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance program to cover public buildings <br />9 during a flood. He commented they are currently not covered for flooding. <br />10 <br />11 City Manager Mornson reported the open house for Silver Lake Road would be held in Council <br />12 Chambers on Thursday, April 26, 2007 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. <br />13 <br />14 City Manager Mornson reported the 50 Years of Public Safety Expo would be held at City Hall <br />15 on Saturday, April 28, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. <br />16 <br />17 City Manager Mornson reported Clean-Up Day is Saturday, May 5, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 <br />18 p.m. <br />19 <br />20 City Manager Mornson reported the comp plan update was distributed to area cities, schools, and <br />21 various agencies in December 2006. He stated in June 2007 the area review would be complete <br />22 and in July 2007 the Planning Commission and City Council would conditionally approve the <br />23 plan for submission to the Metropolitan Council. <br />24 <br />25 City Manager Mornson reported the new Planning Commission member is Ms. Kim Goodwin, <br />26 replacing Mr. Todd Hanson, and Commissioner Don Jensen was elected Vice Chair. <br />27 <br />28 Councilmember Thuesen attended a leadership conference on Citizen Engagement in the <br />29 Government. He explained they talked about several models of government and the one that <br />30 works best is when the citizens are involved at many levels with problem solving rather than <br />31 telling them what would be done. <br />32 <br />33 Councilmember Gray reported that on April 11, 2007 he attended the second citizen's police <br />34 academy as a student. <br />35 <br />36 Councilmember Gray reported that on April 18, 2007 he attended the Chamber of Commerce <br />37 annual meeting. He stated Scott Roadfeldt who was named Villager of the Year and Applebee's <br />38 was named Business of the Year. <br />39 <br />40 Councilmember Gray reported that on April 19, 2007 he attended the Northwest Youth and <br />41 Family Services Board. He reminded everyone that on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 the annual <br />42 Leadership Luncheon would be held at Midland Hills Country Club. <br />43 <br />44 Councilmember Gray reported that on Aril 19, 2007 he was inducted into the Lions Club as a <br />45 representative from the City Council. <br />46 <br />
