City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />April 24, 2007 <br />Page 5 <br />1 Councilmember Gray reported he would be one of three judges reviewing student scholarship <br />2 applications given by North Suburban Communications Commission to students studying <br />3 communications or similar fields. <br />4 <br />5 Mayor Faust commented that a check from anyone who could not attend the luncheon at <br />6 Midland would also be appropriate. <br />7 <br />8 Councilmember Stille reported that on April 18, 2007 he attended the Chamber of Commerce <br />9 dinner. He stated there were many positive comments from people who had never been to a <br />10 Chamber meeting before. <br />11 <br />12 Councilmember Stille reported that on April 19, 2007 he attended the Family Services <br />13 Collaborative Quarterly Meeting. He stated they discussed the use of the Pavilion in conjunction <br />14 with Community Services and other teams on a supervised basis. He commented money from <br />15 the Collaborative does not go to pay for the supervision; however, the kids would be chipping in <br />16 and doing some fundraising. <br />17 <br />18 Mayor Faust reported that on April 18, 2007 he attended the League of Minnesota Cities <br />19 Insurance Trust Safety and Loss workshop. He stated that because of St. Anthony's involvement <br />20 with the League of Minnesota Cities, it is able to have representatives evaluate the city for <br />21 potential liabilities. He stated he is an advocate of this workshop at the League Board, and after <br />22 presenting it, the Mayor of Rochester told his City Administrator and staff should attend. <br />23 <br />24 Mayor attended the Chamber dinner. He stated it is an opportunity to thank the individuals and <br />25 businesses that give back to the community. He commented some provide scholarships to the <br />26 school each year. He stated that any time people learn about it, it is a positive impact. <br />27 <br />28 Mayor April 19 attended League of Minnesota Cities Board Meeting. He stated there is <br />29 currently legislation regarding broadband that the League is behind this and where the state <br />30 wants to go across the state. Mayor Faust gave a historical account of REA in the 1930's. He <br />31 commented this is moving along well within the legislature. <br />32 <br />33 Mayor Faust reported that on April 21, 2007 he was invited to the Edgewater Park to look at how <br />34 pervious concrete is used at the park. He stated it is one small step to getting the Mississippi <br />35 River back to the people. <br />36 <br />37 Mayor Faust passed on that he saw in the paper that Stillwater is monitoring loud noises from <br />38 motor cycles. He passed the information on to City manager Morrison to research as part of the <br />39 Code of Ordinances in St. Anthony. <br />40 <br />41 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />42 <br />43 Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items not <br />44 on the regular agenda. <br />45 <br />46 Hearing none, Mayor Faust moved forward with the agenda. <br />
