He <br />reported there are five things that homeowners could do to improve water quality include <br />keeping lawn clippings, fertilizers, pet droppings, and phosphates on the yard and not in the <br />street. He reported that one of the issues being looked at is the use of road salt as one teaspoon <br />of salt in five gallons of water equates to impaired water. <br />Councilmember Gray reported attending the North Suburban Communications Commission's <br />NATOA Conference from October 2 through October 6, 2007. He reported the conference <br />focused on where the United States rated relative to broadband. He reported the US has slipped <br />to 181h place from first place. He stated he would present what he found out during a work <br />session. <br />Mayor Faust reported that on October 2, 2007, KGAN TV from Cedar Rapids, Iowa interviewed <br />him and Mr. Len Pratt on the St. Anthony Village project. He stated KGAN TV would report on <br />how Silver Lake Village was developed and the relationships with the developers. He stated <br />Cedar Rapids is involved with a similar project. <br />Mayor Faust reported that on October 4, 2007 he attended the Water Quality and Land Use <br />Workshop also. He reported on the type of land cover that accounts for the impervious surface is <br />city streets. He stated the City has control over how often streets are swept and how much salt <br />and sand is put on the streets. <br />Mayor Faust reported that on October 4, 2007 he attended a Personnel Committee Meeting with <br />the League of Minnesota Cities. <br />VIII. He pointed out the information on the <br />workshops presented by the Police Department are advertised here. <br />35 X.
