City Council Regular Meeting Minutes March 14, 2006 Page 4 1 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. 2 City Manager Morrison reported the following: 3 • At the next Council meeting on March 28 there will be two Planning Commission issues; 4 four department head reports; and an update from Three Rivers Park on Silverwood Park. 5 • March 30 is League of Minnesota Cities Capital Day. 6 • On April 1 there will be a meeting with former elected officials. 7 . On April 18, starting at 6:00 p.m., there will be a joint meeting with the Planning 8 Commission as well as tabletop exercises to review emergency plans. 9 . The 2006 to do list and the 2006 goals were updated. 10 • The City received a grant from Hennepin County in the amount of $2,700 for the 2005 11 fall storm. 12 • Silver Lake Village redevelopment received an excellence award from the NAIOP. 13 • The City received a letter from a long -term resident and former mayor regarding talented 14 police and fire personnel. 15 16 Councilmember Horst stated at the end of February he attended a board meeting with the Sister 17 City Association where they discussed the sculpture artist's visit and collecting funds. Next, the 18 Association will set up the agenda and itinerary for the artists May arrival. 19 20 Councilmember Stille stated on February 27 and 28 he participated in an interview committee for 21 a new school superintendent, where they interviewed six applicants, and a selection may be made 22 tonight. He added on March 13 he attended the joint Park Commission / Council meeting. 23 24 Councilmember Thuesen had no report. 25 26 Acting Mayor Gray indicated that he attended the North Suburban Communications Commission 27 meeting on March 3, and noted a scholarship, sponsored by North Suburban and Comcast is 28 available for individuals with a mass communications, journalism, or television production field 29 of study. He added applications can be obtained at the City office with a deadline of April 14. 30 31 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. 32 Acting Mayor Gray invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on 33 items that are not on the regular agenda. 34 35 Hearing none, Acting Mayor Gray moved forward with the agenda. 36 37 IX. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. 38 Councilmember Stille noted the Huskies play Concordia tonight and congratulated the basketball 39 team for making it this far. 40 41 X. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONAL DOCUMENTS. 42 None. 43 44 XI. ADJOURNMENT. 45 Acting Mayor Gray adjourned the meeting at 8:02 p.m. 46 47 Motion carried unanimously.
