City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />May 23, 2006 <br />Page 13 <br />Councilmember Stille — no report. <br />4 Councilmember Thuesen informed everyone he attended two sessions for NIMs. He stated it is a <br />5 reminder what the Fire and Police departments need to do to keep everyone safe in the event of <br />6 an emergency or disaster. <br />7 <br />8 Councilmember Thuesen stated Vital Aging is an organization of seniors trying to find projects <br />9 to take on. For more information, call the main number at Community Services and ask for Sally <br />10 King. <br />11 <br />12 Councilmember Gray reported attending the League of Minnesota Cities Annual Conference in <br />13 St. Cloud June 28 -30. He attended seminars on the future of transportation and vital aging. <br />14 Councilmember Gray echoed congratulations to Mayor Faust on his appointment to the board. <br />15 <br />16 Mayor Faust reported attending the League of Minnesota Cities. He stated Dennis Cavanaugh <br />17 gave a good acquittal of how well prepared the City of St. Anthony is. Since attending meetings <br />18 with the League of Minnesota Cities, he expressed meeting other Council Members and Mayors <br />19 throughout the state. He stressed St. Anthony is way ahead of others on vital aging and on NIMS <br />20 training. The City shines throughout the State. <br />21 <br />22 Mayor Faust reported attending the Mississippi Water Management Organization Meeting on <br />23 July 11. He stated he would invite the Executive Director here to tour the City. Mayor Faust <br />24 indicated he would find a place for St. Anthony's fair share of grant money for a demonstration <br />25 project that improves the water quality that eventually ends up in the Mississippi River. <br />26 <br />27 Mayor Faust stated on July 12 the Fiscal Futures Policy Committee met to anticipate what is <br />28 coming down the road legislatively so the City is prepared. This committee will continue through <br />29 September. <br />30 <br />31 Mayor Faust reported he went to a board retreat with the League of Minnesota Cities and they <br />32 were discussing in -state and the out -state issues. They also preparing for upcoming legislative <br />33 session. <br />34 <br />35 Mayor Faust reported on the AMM meeting that discussed the impact on metro area cities on the <br />36 potential impact of new legislators. <br />37 <br />38 Mayor Faust stated there would be a new set of Legislatures that need an education on how the <br />39 system works. It is our opportunity to share best practices. <br />40 <br />41 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />42 <br />43 Mrs. Patricia Orcutt- Baker, 3113 36h Avenue N.E., appeared before the council to discuss tax <br />44 issues. She presented a letter to the Council expressing her concern and disappointment over her <br />45 taxes. Her primary concern was being taxed out of her home. Mrs. Orcutt -Baker inquired, with <br />
