City Council Regular Meeting Minutes
November 22, 2005
Page 4
• A letter from Homeland Security was received which made it official that the City
received a grant for approximately $200,000 for equipment for the fire station; the City's
share is approximately $11,000.

Councilmember Stille asked what are the proposed purchases for the fire station. Mr. Morrison
replied two main items are an exhaust system and an emergency generator, which totals
approximately $100,000. He added dollars might be used for training and an air compressor that
was in the capital budget.
Councilmember Grey asked if the Community Center changes could be posted on the website in
order to notify the public quicker. Mr. Morrison replied sure.

Mayor Faust stated at the Chamber luncheon it was noted the dollar amounts of grants received
by the City. One year the grant money was factored and estimated at over $1,000 per resident; it
would be good not to loose this kind of historical perspective. He added the City is actively
pursuing grants and are successful.

Councilmember Stille stated on November 201h he attended the Nativity Lutheran Church
dedication ceremony and open house. He added with the two recent churches and with the 49ers
additions /renovations, there is a lot of reinvestment in the community. Mayor Faust thanked
Councilmember Stille for attending recent church open houses on behalf of the Council. He
added there are a lot of non - governmental organizations that do well for people.

Councilmember Thuesen stated yesterday evening he attended the second to the last Ramsey
County Library Task Force meeting, where they have come up with three recommendations. At
the final meeting these recommendations will be ranked, then passed on to the Ramsey County
Library Board.

Councilmember Grey stated on November 16`h he attended the board meeting for Youth and
Family Services, where they raised $35,000 at their family gala. He added they are celebrating
their 30 year this year.

Councilmember Horst stated he has no report.

Mayor Faust indicated that on November 10`h he attended the joint meeting of the League of
Minnesota Cities and the Met Council where they had good comments from the senators from
northeast Minneapolis and Bloomington. On November 10`h he met with the county assessor,
where it was noted values are going up and that the Truth -in- Taxation notices should have been
sent out by now. The Board of Review and how it is now handled by the county assessor's
office instead of coming before Council was discussed. At the Chamber meeting, money
received from the Met Council was discussed.
