City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />August 9, 2005 <br />Page 4 <br />1 • Planning Commission — 4 public hearings; Amcon is one and the amendment to the <br />2 development agreement will be presented. <br />3 • Hennepin County Grant Meeting — August 3; Commissioner Stenglien is working to get <br />4 some more money for St. Anthony. <br />5 • Ramsey County Advisory Meeting into 911 dispatch system — we are not affected by the <br />6 new 911 system. Mr. Mornson is keeping up with developments. <br />7 • Metropolitan Council Representative — Comp Plan is due in 2008 <br />8 • Hennepin County Health Department Radon Screening — kits will be offered at a reduced <br />9 cost. <br />10 • Excellent Staff presentation at National Night Out and Villagefest <br />11 <br />12 Councilmember Thuesen asked if there is any concern why our community was selected for the <br />13 radon screening. Mr. Morrison explained they rotate every year and it happens to be our year. <br />14 <br />15 Mayor Faust mentioned that Mr. Momson commented suburban cities would pay more for the <br />16 911 dispatch system. Mayor Faust pointed out that certain homes are paying more taxes for all <br />17 services; not just 911. <br />18 <br />19 Councilmember Thuesen reported he enjoyed last week's National Night Out. He said he <br />20 attended five of the six events he was assigned to. He congratulated those that helped with <br />21 VillageFest and said he heard very favorable comments. <br />22 <br />23 Councilmember Gray had no report. <br />24 <br />25 Councilmember Horst reported he attended a Sister City Board meeting the last weekend in July. <br />26 A sculptor was chosen for the Minnesota Rock. This project includes several sculptors from <br />27 around the state and international sculptors as part of the Sister City celebration. The sculpture <br />28 will be at Salo Park. He said he also attended six National Night Out parties, and he thanked <br />29 them for having him. <br />30 <br />31 Councilmember Stille thanked the committee for VillageFest. He noted Staff put in a lot of time <br />32 in the previous week. He said he also attended six National Night Out parties. <br />33 <br />34 Mayor Faust elaborated on National Night Out. He explained the parties were divided up and <br />35 the Councilmembers rotated visiting. There were 30 parties that night in the city. He said he <br />36 saw Captain John Ohl out and about, as well as the Fire Chief. He thanked the staff on how well <br />37 they do this event, and said it is a collective team effort. <br />38 <br />39 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />40 Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that <br />41 are not on the regular agenda. <br />42 <br />43 Hearing none, Mayor Faust moved forward with the agenda. <br />44 <br />45 IX.
