City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />July 26, 2011 <br />Page 2 <br />1 Motion by Councilmember Roth, seconded by Councilmember Jenson, to approve the Consent <br />2 Agenda items. <br />4 Motion carried unanimously. <br />5 <br />6 IV. PUBLIC HEARING. <br />8 None. <br />9 <br />10 V. REPORTS FROM COMMISSION AND STAFF. <br />11 <br />12 None. <br />13 <br />14 VI. GENERAL BUSINESS OF COUNCIL. <br />15 <br />16 A. Quarterly Goals Update. Mike Morrison presenting_ <br />17 <br />18 City Manager Morrison presented the goals update for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 and <br />19 highlighted several key accomplishments. He reported that on June 15`h, the City was <br />20 recognized by the Pollution Control Agency at the League's annual conference for being a <br />21 "GreenStep City." He stated that construction is currently underway on the 2011 street project. <br />22 He advised that the Veterans Memorial project has seen significant progress and it is possible <br />23 that construction of the memorial could begin this fall. He indicated that the summer newsletter <br />24 contained an article on volunteerism. He reported that Community Services held two seminars <br />25 regarding GMHC with over 20 residents attending. He stated that the liquor store is the first <br />26 department to have a Facebook site. He advised that cameras have now been installed in all <br />27 squad cars and the City's utility truck has a portable GIS system. He indicated that the Fire <br />28 Chief was able to secure a grant for a new civil defense siren to be installed at Central Park. He <br />29 pointed out the ongoing work of City staff related to increasing and maintaining the City's fiscal <br />30 strength, and stated that the City secured police contracts with Falcon Heights and Lauderdale. <br />31 <br />32 Councilmember Stille requested that the City Council have an opportunity at worksession to <br />33 continue its discussion regarding a single hauler. <br />34 <br />35 B. Resolution 11 -044• Accepting the Resignation of City Manager Michael Morrison <br />36 <br />37 Mayor Faust stated that Mr. Morrison came to the City on June 27, 1994 and has served the City <br />38 for 17 years. He advised that Mr. Morrison has submitted his letter of resignation effective <br />39 August 19, 2011, to take the City Manager position in Hopkins. He stated that Mr. Morrison has <br />40 done a great job for the City and he will be missed. <br />41 <br />42 Motion by Councilmember Stille, seconded by Councilmember Gray, to approve Resolution 11- <br />43 044, Accepting the Resignation of City Manager Michael Morrison. <br />44 <br />45 Motion carried unanimously. <br />46 <br />
