She <br />explained the fire department does inspections on multi tenant buildings to insure they are safe, <br />but they are not able to inspect rentals in an R1 or R2 district, nor are they tracked to ensure they <br />meet building code. She reported that once the revision was complete, it would be passed on to <br />the g C ission and City Council for review. Plannin omm <br />XI. COMMUNITY FORUM <br /> None <br /> <br />XII. Discuss Residential Sprinkler Systems 14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager Moore-Sykes reported she received an email from Commissioner Don <br />Jensen on sprinkling and safety in the home. She passed this on to the Fire Chief, the Public <br />Works Director, and the City Manager for their input. She stated Chief Melenack replied that, <br />while he thought it was a great idea that every residents have a sprinkler system, it is not feasible <br />or affordable for single-family homes. She stated the City Engineer also commented on the <br />extensive maintenance and upkeep involved with the single-family homes and doubted <br />legislation would ever pass to make it mandatory for single-family homes. Assistant City <br />Manager Moore-Sykes mentioned Chief Melenack stated he would love for it to be put into new <br />homes going forward, however, this presents more maintenance problems and expense. <br /> <br /> X.2. She commented St. Anthony is following the trends <br />experienced throughout the metro area. <br /> <br /> X.3.
