Each splash pad current configurations and
usage rates are described below in more detail.
Central Park
The Central Park Splash Pad currently uses approximately 6.9 million gallons of water annually. The
splash pad equipment consists of a series of tipping buckets and four water jets. The current splash pad
flow rate is 166 gallons per minute (gpm) with a cycle time of four minutes. The City has previously
reduced the flow rate by reducing the head at each of the four popcorn jets from 16 feet to five feet and
reducing the run time from 14 minutes to four minutes.

The current hours of operation are from 8am to 8pm (12 hours daily). In 2015 the splash pad operated for
approximately 695 hours.

Central Park irrigation systems are supplied by three locations: potable water that runs through a City
owned meter, potable water that runs through a high school owned meter, and reuse water from the
City’s reuse tank. The existing irrigation demand is approximately 7.0 million gallons annually. The typical
break downs for this annual water usage is 1.4 million gallons of potable water from the City water meter,
1.0 million gallons of potable water from the High School water meter, and 4.6 million gallons of reuse
water from the water reuse facility.
Emerald Park
Emerald Park Splash Pad currently uses approximately 9.3 million of gallons of water annually. The
splash pad flow rate is currently 365 gpm at a three to five minute run time to activate all products. The
City has previously reduced the flow rate through reducing the run time from 15 minutes to the three to
five minute run time.

The current hours of operation are from 8am to 8pm (12 hours daily). In 2015 the splash pad operated
for approximately 425 hours.
