Grants
To help offset the cost of operations and capital equipment, Staff continues to participate in Federal
and State grants, seeking donations from private sources and partners with local organizations. In
2012, funding from these sources totaled $172,746. Combining this effort with previous years since
1999, the City has received $15,982,099, which, based on a population of 8,226, represents $1,942.88
per resident.
Some recent on -going grants and applications include: to promote public safety and alcohol
awareness the Police Department continues to secure Safe and Sober Grant funding; Metropolitan
Council I & I Shared Services Grant; and a Metropolitan Environmental Services Grant;
Liquor Operations
The profitability of St. Anthony's Liquor Operations continues to be a focus for City Council and
Staff. Profits from the operation of our two stores have a significant impact on our City's ability
purchase capital equipment without issuing debt. They also provide a source of funding for reducing
the general fund tax levy.
