PUBLIC HEARING — NONE. 23 24 V. REPORTS FROM COMMISSION AND STAFF — NONE. 25 26 VI. GENERAL BUSINESS OF COUNCIL. 27 28 A. 2017 Parks Commission Work Plan. 29 30 Park Commission Chair Scott Bentz summarized some of the accomplishments of the Parks 31 Commission in 2016. Mr. Bentz presented the 2017 Parks Commission Work Plan. The duties 32 of the Parks Commission are as follows: 33 • To prepare, revise and maintain a comprehensive, long -term plan for the redevelopment of 34 parks within the city. This plan shall be viewed as a working document that serves as a 35 framework and reference to future redevelopment; 36 • To make recommendations to and advise the City Council and staff regarding park issues and 37 ideas; 38 • To establish priorities and recommend a phasing plan and schedule for implementing 39 innovative park improvements, renovations, and plans; 40 • To work with other communities to explore cooperative arrangements to develop connecting 41 routes in the form of bikeways, walking paths, and corridors of green space wherever 42 possible; 43 • To investigate funding sources, including requests for increases in the city budget, designated 44 for parks and green spaces; 45 • To seek new areas for additional parks, natural areas, walking paths, bikeways, and green 46 space corridors;
