2015 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

36

FIX IT CLINIC
This year also marked Saint Anthony’s first time hosting a Fix It Clinic, a free resource for
residents to bring in their favorite household items to work on with skilled volunteers. This
event, which was held in the atrium of the Saint Anthony Community Center and City Hall,
attracted 55 people to bring in one or multiple items. Seventy-seven percent of the total items
were fixed or on their way. In one afternoon, 519 pounds were diverted from the waste stream,
now residents can continue to use their cherished items while knowing some valuable fix-it
skills.

SUSTAINABILITY
What is “Sustainability”? Sustainability is based on a simple principle: Everything that we need
for survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment.
Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in
productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of
present and future.
Although it wasn’t always coined “sustainability”, St. Anthony
Village has long valued the protection and wise use of our
resources. With our mission statement “to be a progressive and
livable community, a walkable village, which is sustainable, safe
and secure”. Sustainability is an integral part of the day-to-day
workings within City Hall.
