Community Planning and Economic <br />Development <br />In 2012, the city selected WSB & Associates, Inc as their <br />consultant planner to complete all planning related <br />reviews and work for the city in an effort to be more <br />efficient with the services propdived to the residents and to <br />be conscuous of expenditures associated with planning. <br />Breanne Rothstein, AICP, serves as the city’s planner, and <br />she serves as the staff liaison to the Planning Commission, <br />reviews all land use and development applications, works <br />with residents on a variety of home improvement projects, <br />and completes all long range planning for the City of St. <br />Anthony. <br />In 2015, the city planning division fielded over 120 <br />inquiries about private property investments, mostly <br />single-family residential in nature. These included <br />inquiries about garage re-constructions or expansions, <br />home expansions, driveway re-locations/widening, and <br />patio or deck construction. Other inquiries include sign <br />questions from commercial businesses, new business or business expansion plans (including <br />The Unofficial, Catrina’s, and Anytime Fitness). The planning division has also conducted pre- <br />application/general inquiry meetings with several businesses or developers on plans for <br />expansion, re-development, or new development within the city (7 meetings). <br />DEMOGRAPHICS <br />The City of St. Anthony has 8,501 residents, according to the 2014 American Community <br />Survey. Of that, 1,114 are reported as foreign born, or 13 percent of the city. St. Anthony has <br />about the same number of seniors and children. 1,735 residents are seniors (65 or older), and <br />1,605 are children. Millennials, those born in 1981 to 1999, represent the largest generation in St. <br />Anthony, with 2,229 people being in that age range. Baby boomers are second highest (born in <br />1946 to 1964) with 2,009 people in this generation. St. Anthony has a higher than average
