2015 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />50 <br /> <br />OPEN TO BUSINESS <br />Open to Business provides one on one business counseling to <br />current and prospective entrepreneurs. Consultants work with <br />residents and businesses to develop a strong business plan, identify challenges and <br />opportunities, and to tailor solutions. In addition to direct consulting, Open to Business <br />program staff can link entrepreneurs with additional resources to help them succeed, including <br />training programs, community or governmental services, financial resources and industry and <br />business professionals. In 2015, Open to Business staff worked on real estate analysis, strategic <br />planning, lease review, cash flow analysis and projections, zoning issues and loan packaging for <br />existing graphic designer/brand developer and a real estate developer. In addition an Open to <br />Business client made a presentation to City Council in January on how the program has helped <br />him. Open to Business worked with three St. Anthony entrepreneurs providing over 50 hours <br />of technical assistance. <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />In 2015, the Metropolitan Council released St. Anthony’s System Statement, which included all <br />the information St. Anthony will need to include in the ten year update to their Comprehensive <br />Plan. This includes population, household, and employment projections, as well as a detailed <br />description of the regional transportation, sewer and water, surface water management, and <br />land use planning requirements. The city will be completing their update in 2016 and 2017 to <br />guide future planning and development efforts to 2040. These permits range in scale from small remodeling <br />projects to new development, which is significantly higher than previous years. Historical <br />building permits data had remained relatively stable in the years 2008 to 2014, however in 2015 <br />building permits pulled more than doubled from the previous year.
