2015 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

15 | Page

In addition to Officer Survival Training, Mentally Ill and Impaired, Integrity and Diversity
Training, six of our Officers saw training in defensive driving; all took part in active shooter; all
received training in Emergency Haz Mat, OSHA, and Emergency Medical Response. Many
Officers along with Supervisors took part in Leadership courses. Officer Huddle neared his
completion of the BCA Supervisor certification. Sergeant Mangseth and Sergeant Speiss
completed the BCA Chief Law Enforcement Officer and Command Academy. We continued
education in death investigation, sexual violence, trafficking, interviewing and interrogation,
hostage and high risk negotiations, breath test re-certifications, use-of-force instructor, drug
identification and enforcement, and legal updates. In 2015 Officers spent a minimum of 1541
hours in training, compared to 1548 hours in 2014, 1375 hours in 2013, and 1432 hours in 2012.

VIII. Police Reserve Summary
PREPARED BY OFFICER TRESSA SUNDE

The Reserve Unit continues to remain a very strong and
valuable asset to the police department. While the job
description itself has not changed, the level of officers
has. We had a lot of turnover the past couple
years…most would think that is a bad thing, I,
however, reflected upon the past couple years with
pride. You see, we lost several reserve officers who are
now full-time, sworn, police officers! Knowing that our
department helped to cultivate these men and women
into dedicated officers makes it a win in my book!

As with any loss, there is new growth. We again began looking for people who were eager to
fulfill their dream to help a department, gain knowledge and learn “the ropes” of working side
by side with police officers. All the while, not only making themselves better reserve officers
but helping out the sworn officers in so many ways…again…WIN-WIN!
