Flood Reduction Improvements <br />The city has identified several areas that have the need for increased levels of flood protection. <br />The city has completed the improvements for many of these locations there still remain a few <br />projects that are addressed as financing and adjacent infrastructure is upgraded. This year, in <br />addition to designing the Mirror Lake improvements, the city completed: <br /> <br />Belden Drive Flood Improvements <br />The city completed the installation of storm sewer in the <br />backyard area of Belden and 34th Avenue NE. This storm <br />sewer will collect and carry away stormwater that has been <br />contributing to flooding of the nearby homes. This work <br />was completed in the fall of 2015. <br /> <br />V. Pedestrian Safety Improvements <br />St. Anthony has implemented a number of pedestrian improvements in recent years to improve <br />the walkability of the Village. In 2015 the city undertook the following to improve pedestrian <br />safety and access <br />Kenzie Terrace Led Crosswalk <br />The crosswalk location on Kenzie Terrace was moved to align <br />with 27th Avenue NE to get pedestrians away from the shopping <br />center entrance, and it also creates a more natural crossing point <br />from the surrounding residential areas. <br /> <br />Pedestrian crossing signs were upgraded to include flashing <br />LEDs around the border increasing crosswalk visibility. LED <br />pucks were placed in the pavement at the painted crosswalk that <br />flashes in unison with the signs. Both the LEDs on the signs and <br />in the pavement are activated by a push-button on either side of Kenzie Terrace.
