II. Department Divisions
2014 Annual Report · Publc Works Department · St. Anthony Village, Minnesota
5
Kenzie Terrace LED Crosswalk –
Kenzie Terrace near St. Anthony Boulevard is a busy County road with several businesses
on the east side. These businesses generate a signifi cant amount of pedestrian traffi c from
the surrounding residential areas. The City of St Anthony Village currently uses standard
pedestrian crosswalks with static signing and pavement markings to designate where it is
safe for pedestrians to cross. However, it’s been observed that drivers do not yield the right
of way as often as they should. Additionally, the current crosswalk location at Pentagon
Drive and Kenzie Terrace is located directly in the path of drivers entering and exiting
the St. Anthony Shopping Center. These factors have created an unsafe environment for
pedestrians to move freely between their homes and surrounding businesses.
Project Description: By moving the location and then enhancing the visibility of the
crosswalk, the City can improve safety for pedestrians trying to cross Kenzie Terrace.
The crosswalk location will be moved to 27th Avenue NE to get pedestrians away from
the shopping center entrance, and it also creates a more natural crossing point from the
surrounding residential areas. Pedestrian crossing signs will be upgraded with fl ashing LEDs
around the border to increase crosswalk visibility. Additionally, the City will install LED pucks
in the pavement at the painted crosswalk that fl ash in unison with the signs. Both the LEDs
on the signs and in the pavement are activated by a push-button on either side of Kenzie
Terrace. The City plans to complete the work by Spring 2015.

Fiber LAN Project – St Anthony Municipal Fiber Optic Network
As part of the City’s strategic initiatives to maintain a quality infrastructure and a robust
technological foundation, staff is requesting the Council to review a proposal on the creation
of a municipal fi ber optic network.
Our photo.
OK to use?
