X. Crime Prevention Summary <br />2014 Annual Report · Police Department · St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br />19 <br />In January, the Cops versus Kids Basketball Challenge <br />was back. The challenge took place at the St. Anthony <br />High School gym. Six student teams each played a <br />twenty minute game against the St. Anthony Police <br />team. Each student team gave the police team a run <br />for their money, with the student teams ending up with <br />victories in all games. Most important, fun was had by <br />all participants. <br />Sgt. Jeff Spiess paid a visit to the Super America, on <br />Stinson Blvd., and spoke with employees concerning <br />crime prevention issues that included; gas drive offs, <br />suspicious activity and 911 reporting. <br />In February, Offi cer Dale Moore gave a presentation on scams to the VIP Club at St. Charles Church. <br />Offi cer Moore attended the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby race at Faith United Church, where he competed <br />in the celebrity race. <br />In March, Offi cer Joseph Kauser took time out of a patrol shift to visit St. Anthony <br />businesses, including gas stations and restaurants, to hand out crime alerts regarding <br />recent crime trends. <br />In April, Lt. Jeff Scholl spoke with the President of the Mirror Lake Manor Association reference crime <br />prevention measures for her upcoming newsletter. <br />Sgt. Jon Mangseth attended a grand opening event at the Roseville Walmart. A $1,500 donation was <br />accepted, from Walmart Corporation, on behalf of the Police Department. The donation was used to <br />support the Summer Survival Camp and the Shop with a Cop Program. <br />Lt. Jeff Scholl and CSO Andy Kukowski met with two preschool classes from Community Services. Many <br />questions were answered and department tours were provided. <br />Offi cers from the St. Anthony Police Department were invited to a gathering at the Middle School where <br />they were challenged to several games of dodgeball. Offi cers participating included: Capt. Dominic <br />Cotroneo, Det. Tim Briski, Sgt. Jeff Spiess, Jeremy Sroga, Jon Schlingman and Andy Kukowski. <br />In April, Det. Tim Briski and CSO Andy Kukowski attended the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association <br />2014 Minnesota Night to Unite “Kickoff Event” at the MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The event is <br />a recap of the previous year’s event and offi cially starts the planning for this year’s event. <br />In May and June, Offi cer Jeronimo Yanez met with community members and their children to discuss and <br />demonstrate bicycle safety.
