2016 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

12

COLLABORATIVE REFORM INITIATIVE
At the request of the City, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has accepted St.
Anthony into the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Collaborative Reform
Initiative for Technical Assistance (CRI-TA). CRI -TA is focused on helping cities find and
implement ways to improve trust between law enforcement agencies and the communities they
serve by providing a means to organizational transformation.
The CRI-TA uses assessment and technical assistance providers to coordinate the work through
the involvement of subject matter experts, interviews, data and records analysis, research and
analysis, and direct observations.
The mayor, city council and staff are excited to begin this multi-year process of identifying
issues and enhancing the relationships within our community. One of the City’s fundamental
goals is to create systems that are sustainable and able to become embedded in the fabric of our
community. It is critically important that the City hear from all voices of the community and
residents take advantage of the numerous engagement opportunities. Information will be on
website at www.ci.saint-anthony.mn.us.
BODY CAM WORK GROUP
In partnership with Falcon Heights and Lauderdale, a Body Cam Work Group was established.
Each respective city will be represented by three residents along with a City Council liaison.
Councilmember Gray will be St. Anthony’s City Council liaison. St. Anthony residents applied
and were interviewed by the Mayor and Council. Beginning in 2017, the work group’s purpose
will be to review current police policies and protocols, best practices and trends, policy
development and present recommendations to Police Chief, City Manager and St. Anthony City
Council for officer worn cameras.
