2016 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

43

Northeast Youth and Family Services
Northeast Youth and Family Services (NYFS) is a non-profit,
community based social service agency that has been in existence since
1976. Their mission is to transform lives today and create a better
tomorrow for youth, families and our community. This is accomplished
through a continuum of services that include mental health counseling
and youth development programs. The primary population served is youth ages 5-21 and their
families, but they do also provide services to all ages.
Through their main office in Shoreview and a satellite office in White Bear Lake, they work
closely with local school districts and municipalities to help youth and families in the northeast
metro area develop the skills and fortitude to resolve issues in the present and reach their
potential in the future.
NYFS provides a variety of services to the residents of St. Anthony. A commonly used service is
their Senior Chore program that matches youth and adults with seniors who need help with
household tasks to remain living independently in their homes. NYFS also provides mental
health counseling to all ages and is recognized as a regional provider of mental health day
treatment services for middle and high school aged youth. They are certified by the State to
receive third party insurance for services offered. They also provide diversion services to first
time youth offenders and their families that help youth make positive choices and avoid further
involvement with the criminal justice system. Because of NYFS’ partnership with St. Anthony,
most services are provided regardless of cost to the residents of St. Anthony.

Historical Society
To collect, preserve, and disseminate historical knowledge about the City of St.
Anthony Village
Recently the Historical Society has recorded many interviews. From
these interviews, they have published one book about St. Anthony’s history, published a second
book about St. Anthony residents memories from WWII, and published a third book as a
sculpted version of the history book produced to entertain and educate the youth in St.
Anthony. The Historical Society has also digitized their most prized possessions of births and
deaths from the late 1800’s and their meeting minutes from the late 1800’s on.
