City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />March 14 2017 <br />Page 2 <br />1 A. 2017 Planning Commission Work Plan. <br />2 <br />3 Planning Commission Chair Gondorchin provided an update on the 2016 Planning Commission <br />4 Work Plan, stating the duties and the focus for 2017. He noted the 2016 Plan is identical to the <br />5 2017 Plan. <br />6 <br />7 Councilmember Stille asked how many variances were recommended in 2016 and Mr. <br />8 Gondorchin stated one variance was recommended. Councilmember Stille commended the <br />9 Planning Commission and noted the code has been adhered to. <br />10 <br />11 Mayor Faust noted Councilmember Stille is the liaison to the Planning Commission and <br />12 Councilmembers Stille and Brever have been sitting on the Steering Committee for those <br />13 meeting. Mayor Faust thanked Chair Gondorchin for his report. <br />14 <br />15 Motion by Councilmember Stille, seconded by Councilmember Brever, to approve the 2017 <br />16 Planning Commission Work Plan as presented. <br />17 <br />18 Motion carried 5-0. <br />19 <br />20 B. St. Anthony Fire Department Annual Report. <br />21 <br />22 Fire Chief Mark Sitarz presented a PowerPoint of the St. Anthony Fire Department Annual <br />23 Report and reviewed the Fire Department Divisions, Organization Chart, Operations, Total Calls <br />24 for Service, Call Breakdown, Dollar Loss from Fire, Fire Investigations, Operations Summary, <br />25 Training, Fire Inspections, Fire Marshal, Fire Prevention/Public Education, Code Enforcement — <br />26 Housing, Code Enforcement — Rental, Emergency Management, Outcomes and Committed to <br />27 Serve. Chief Sitarz noted the complete report is available on the City website. <br />28 <br />29 Mayor Faust thanked the Fire Department for their passion in doing their job. <br />30 <br />31 Councilmember Jenson stated there has been an increase in service calls over the years, the <br />32 headcount has remained flat, the department is exceeding their education and training <br />33 requirements, and it is evident the team is committed to serving the public. <br />34 <br />35 Councilmember Gray noted in July — August EOC, he was very well prepared and thanked Chief <br />36 Sitarz for his dedication and leadership. <br />37 <br />38 Councilmember Brever thanked the Fire Department for all they do for the community. She <br />39 noted residents can request having their homes assessed. Chief Sitarz described the home <br />40 assessment program. Residents can call the fire station to set up an assessment. <br />41 <br />42 Councilmember Stille asked why there was an increase in service calls. Chief Sitarz indicated he <br />43 does not know the reason and the trend continues to increase. Councilmember Stille echoed <br />44 Councilmember Gray's comments about helping keep the community safe and secure. <br />45 <br />
