2016 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br />31 | Page <br /> <br />April: Several officers presented on numerous law enforcement topics to students in a St. <br />Anthony Village High School CSI class. Topics included lawful use of force, drugs and DWI, <br />and a tour of the police department. <br />June: Summer Survival School was held on June <br />22nd and 23rd at the Central Park Pavilion and co <br />hosted by the St. Anthony Fire <br />Department. Summer survival school consists of <br />two days full of action packed presentation and <br />demonstrations to help the 48 incoming 4th <br />graders from St. Anthony, Falcon Heights and <br />Lauderdale be prepared for the <br />summer. Children were instructed by volunteers <br />from many different agencies throughout the <br />metro area. Hennepin County Dispatch taught <br />the children about 911 use, Officer Schlingman taught the kids about dangerous drugs, Sgt. <br />Dokken instructed firearms awareness. Other instruction included a meteorologist from the US <br />Forest Services, a Physical Fitness Instructor from Fitness Crossroad, MN Poison Control spoke <br />about the dangers of household chemicals , Hennepin County Water Patrol showed off one of <br />their boats and spoke with kids about water safety. Roseville K-9 Officer Jennings and her <br />Partner Sieger talked to the kids about dangerous dogs and put on a demonstration of Sieger’s <br />capabilities. That was just the first day! <br /> Day 2 included the kids getting fitted for their <br />own bike helmets donated by the St. Anthony <br />Kiwanis, Officer South spoke to the kids about <br />bike safety followed by an off street course <br />with stop signs and intersections for practice of <br />proper bike safety, a visit to the St. Anthony <br />Fire Department with tours of tire trucks, <br />paramedics from HCMC showed off their <br />ambulance, the children were then taught how
