City Hall <br />2014 Annual Report · Administration · St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br />23 <br />Historical Society <br />To collect, preserve, and disseminate historical knowledge about the <br />City of St. Anthony Village <br />A few years ago, with a local writer, Gail D. Olson, coupled with a <br />St. Anthony resident, Tom Heller, published “A Village in the City” <br />which has sold nearly all the 1000 books that were printed. The <br />Historical Society’s second book “World War II Courage and Survival” <br />entails stories from some local people you may recognize that had <br />stories to share from World War II. <br />In 2014, the Historical Society submitted and is actively pursuing <br />a grant application project to the Minnesota Historical & Cultural <br />Heritage Grants program to help incorporate the right system for <br />archiving the items the historical society currently houses. <br />CTV <br />CTV is a non-profi t organization operated by the North Suburban <br />Access Corporation (NSAC). The ten commission members <br />represent the cities of Arden Hills, Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little <br />Canada, Mounds View, New Brighton, North Oaks, Roseville, St. <br />Anthony and Shoreview. In 2015, Shoreview will no longer be a <br />member. The North Suburban Cable Commission (NSCC) is a joint <br />powers venture with the same cities. We have come together to <br />offer all our residents a station with programming created by the <br />community, for the community. <br />The Commission administers and enforces the franchise agreement with the cable company and its <br />successors; stewards resources, including franchise fees from member cities, scholarship funds from <br />the cable company and other income and assets acquired by contract with the cable company or others; <br />provides a means of public access to cable television; and informs member cities and the public of <br />developing technology and issues related to cable communications. <br />City of St. Anthony appoints a member of the City Council to represent St. Anthony at all Commission <br />meetings and functions. The City representative is a Commissioner on the NSCC and a Director on the <br />NSAC. The City Manager also serves on the Telecommunications Advisory Committee (TAC) along with <br />other appointed staff from the ten commission cities. <br />In 2014, the Commission met on a monthly basis along with numerous commission work sessions and <br />special meetings. A signifi cant amount of time was spent on the expiring franchise agreement renewal <br />with Comcast. Two major highlights of the year included recommending the extension of the current <br />franchise with Comcast for two years and the transfer from Comcast to GreatLand Connections Inc.
