III. Finance Activity Unique to 2014
2014 Annual Report · Publc Works Department · St. Anthony Village, Minnesota
11
·
IMPACT OF THE STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROGRAM ON
INFLOW AND INFILTRATION.
As part of the City’s annual street improvement projects it replaces the clay pipe sanitary sewer lines. The
existing clay pipelines develop cracks over time which allows ground water to enter the collection system.
Eliminating this seepage combined with the lower water usage has led to signifi cant reductions wastewater
fl ows. The illustrations below compare ground water pumped to wastewater fl ow entering the treatment system.
These illustrations suggest that beginning in the early 2000’s the replacement of aged lines started to impact
annual metered fl ow. Wastewater fl ows have gone high of 118% of ground water pumped (1992) to a low 73%
(2009). This result validates one of the varied needs being addressed by the Street Reconstruction program.
MEAN
17,490
GAL/QTR
MEAN
14,800
GAL/QTR
MEDIAN
15,740
GAL/QTR
MEDIAN
12,976
GAL/QTR
GALLONS PER QUARTER
PROMOTING WATER CONSERVATION
EFFECT ON CHANGE IN WATER RATE STRUCTURE
TIER 2
20082013
TIER 3
15,001 - 22,500
10,000 15,000 20,000 25,000 30,000
22,501 - 30,000
