Finance Activity Unique to 2014 <br />2014 Annual Report · Public Works Department · St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br />REVIEW OF TIERED WATER RATE IMPACT <br />The City’s 2014 Strategic Plan includes seven broad goals for which <br />actions steps are developed each year. An action step supporting the <br />goal “Build and Cultivate Environmental Responsibility” was a review <br />of the eff ect of tiered water rates on conservation. Therefore, staff has <br />completed a review of residential water consumption in the three years <br />preceding and following the implementation of tiered rates. <br />The review process yielded the following results: <br /> · Extreme water users reduced their consumption by usage <br />subsequent to the implementation of tiered rates by 25% during the <br />peak usage period (July-Sept). <br /> · Single family residential users as a group reduced their usage <br />subsequent to tiered rate implementation by 13.72%. This <br />reduction equated to a savings of over 99 million gallons in a three <br />year period. <br /> · Water consumption by all customer types was reduced by 13.81%, <br />producing a total savings of over 131 million gallons. <br /> · 2013 Single Family residential annual usage was statistically <br />evaluated and compared to the statistical analysis from 2008 as <br />follows: <br /> · The average household usage in 2013 was 2,690 gallons less per quarter than in 2008, or <br />down 15%. <br /> · The median household usage in 2013 was 2,796 gallons less per quarter than in 2008, or <br />down 18%.
