<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />6 <br /> 22001111 SSttrraatteeggiicc PPllaann <br /> <br />Setting the Stage…an interactive perspective <br /> <br />The group engaged in an interactive discussion, reflecting upon the contributions of each <br />participant, the purpose of the work session, the capacity of the group given the tenure and <br />experience of the team, the priorities of the City, and the top challenges facing the City and all <br />local governments given the continuing economic and fiscal environment. <br /> <br />Discussion One: Adding Value <br /> <br />Focusing on the importance of engaging everyone and encouraging individual contributions each <br />participant spent time reflecting on the question of but for my participation, the sessions would <br />not be as successful. A snapshot of the individual responses included: <br /> <br /> Listen effectively <br /> Be active; take some risks <br /> I will not be scared to speak up and express myself <br /> Challenge the status quo <br /> Humor <br /> Insight and creativity <br /> Provide a view from outside of City Hall <br /> Learning <br /> <br />At the conclusion of the Strategic Planning and work session on Friday noon, participants <br />reflected upon the outcomes of their participation. It was concluded that group participation was <br />strong and everyone contributed to the discussion and development of the goals. <br /> <br />Discussion Two: St. Anthony Village Team <br /> <br />St. Anthony Village has an experienced team with a professional and collegial culture which is <br />both distinctive and positive. The underlying relationships – built over many years – allow for <br />an open and direct conversation. This characteristic should be celebrated and recognized. The <br />characteristics used to describe the participants include the following: <br /> <br /> Knowledgeable <br /> Passionate <br /> Professional <br /> Self-Aware <br /> Committed <br /> Respectful <br /> Experienced <br />
