On February 22, he attended the Collaborative Reform meeting for the Police Department. 2
3
Mayor Faust stated he also attended the February 22 roll-out of Collaborative Reform. 4
5
VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. 6
Ms. Mary Jackson, 3605 37th Avenue, thanked the City for improvements made under the ADA. 7
She requested a description of the ADA rights also be included on the website, how to make a 8
complaint, and how complaints are processed. She suggested training be held for all City staff on 9
ADA compliance, noting the DOJ would be a good resource for federal laws. She believed there 10
are many cities much further down the road than St. Anthony and she would like to see the 11
policies and procedures practiced in the City. She would like Council to review the 12
Comprehensive Planning process and reach out to people covered by non-discrimation laws and 13
include them in the process. 14
15
Ms. Nancy Robinett, 3408 31st Avenue NE, appeared regarding affordable housing and the old 16
bowling alley site, noting it is very small and highlights the issue that St. Anthony has very little 17
space for any development. The site is owned by the City. She indicated SAVCA provided a 18
statement to the Planning Commission to forward to the City Council on the lack of affordable 19
housing components in the Lowry Grove redevelopment plan. There will be a talk on Affordable 20
housing on February 28 at the High School at 6:30 p.m. 21
22
Councilmember Stille agreed the bowling alley site is small and if some affordable housing 23
could be put on that site, the land would be donated and TIF would also be available to a 24
developer. He suggested sending an RFP to developers and asking the Met Council for the 25
additional funding. He felt the Bremer Site could also be considered although the City does not 26
own that property. 27
28
Mayor Faust stated maybe an RFP is not a bad idea and then go forward to the Met Council for 29
funding. 30
31
IX.
