2017 Annual Report • Fire Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

25 | Page

Once everyone has completed all the required training
for not only our department level but also state level they
move on and get sworn in as a firefighter for the City of
St. Anthony Fire Department. They get to start working
shifts and filling in learning how day to day operations
around the station work like fire inspections, public
education in the schools, CPR training and responding to
calls to help our citizens of the community. The training
is complete for now until the next class or until a
firefighter finds some specialized skill they may want to
further their training on like hazardous materials, arson
investigation and so on. As I stated earlier, the training
never ends and we strive to further our abilities to help out our community.

VI. Community Involvement and
Outreach
By Firefighter Joe Benik

The Fire Department has many ways of interacting with the residents that it
serves. Most of these interactions though are during an emergent situation,
whether it be a fire or a medical event. In order to balance out these events, we enjoy and relish
the times when we can meet other community members when there is no emergency! It is our
mission as the fire department in the City of St. Anthony to assist people within our community
when they need it most. Whether it is a fire related incident or a medical incident, it is our job to
help out the community in as many ways as we can, and are trained for. Aside from this, we
also pride ourselves on how much we reach out to the community in other ways also.
