City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />March 13, 2018 <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Councilmember Jenson commented on the number of service calls with 2 full time people on 1 <br />duty. He thanked Chief Sitarz and the entire department. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Councilmember Stille asked how the response time has changed over the years. Chief Sitarz 4 <br />stated there are more calls and the department is close to the 2½ minute time. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Councilmember Gray asked what the difference was being in the center of the City. Chief Sitarz 7 <br />stated it is a benefit and positive change. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Councilmember Randle asked about the false alarms and asked if there is cost to a business or 10 <br />apartment for false alarms. Chief Sitarz stated there is no cost. It is communicated during shift 11 <br />change and if there’s two or more calls in 24 hours they will be proactive in solving the problem. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Councilmember Stille asked about active shooter training in conjunction with the Police 14 <br />Department. He stated it must be a benefit of knowing the members of the Police Department. 15 <br />Chief Sitarz stated the relationship between the departments is very good. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Mayor Faust stated moving the fire station was a much-contested issue within the City but as 18 <br />soon as it was moved and the benefits realized, it changed the minds of those opposed. The 19 <br />department is well trained and would do well in crisis situations. Lives are saved. Mayor Faust 20 <br />stated there are a lot of volunteers with varied full-time positions. Chief Sitarz mentioned some 21 <br />of the positions held by the volunteers. Mayor Faust thanked Chief Sitarz and the entire 22 <br />department. 23 <br /> 24 <br />VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. 25 <br /> 26 <br />The City Manager had no report. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Councilmember Gray had no report. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Councilmember Randle stated he attended the Park Commission Meeting last evening. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Councilmember Jenson stated on February 28 he attended the Affordable Housing Meeting. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Councilmember Stille stated on March 12, he attended the Nominating Committee for Metro 35 <br />Cities for the 19-person board. He attended a Euro-Cocktail event last night with Mayor Faust 36 <br />and City Manager Casey. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Mayor Faust stated today he gave a presentation to the Chamber of Commerce and then to the 39 <br />Mississippi Water Management Organization for its bi-monthly meeting.
