2017 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br />26 | P a g e <br /> <br /> <br />May: Officer Schlingman spoke with preschool and Pre-K children about being a police officer. <br />Badge stickers were given away to the kids. <br />Patrol officers gave out “I Got Caught” ice cream certificates for <br />a free Dairy Queen ice cream cone to kids all over St. Anthony <br />who were “caught” wearing their bicycle helmet and safety <br />equipment while riding their bikes. This activity took place all <br />summer long. Thank you, Dairy Queen! <br />Officer Schlingman gave a presentation to Boy/Girl Scout Troop 38 <br />about avoiding drug abuse. A tour of the police department and squad cars was included. <br />Chief Mangseth spent an afternoon <br />with two St. Anthony High School <br />student leaders from Dare 2 Be Real to <br />help them become acquainted with city <br />leaders and staff, learn about day to <br />day operations of the police <br />department, and discover potential <br />government careers. <br />JUNE: Chief Mangseth, Captain Spiess, <br />Sgt. Huddle, Sgt. Sroga, Detective <br />Briski, and Officer Schlingman met <br />with members of the Student Diversity Leadership Group <br />(6th through 8th graders) at the St. Anthony Middle School. <br />Officers, students and teachers shared lunch and had <br />conversation to get to know and understand each other <br />better, as well as engage in meaningful discussions <br />around policing and relations in the community.
