Mayor Faust thanked the Chief and Department for 1 <br />their service to the community. 2 <br /> 3 <br />VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. 4 <br /> 5 <br />City Manager Casey noted the Spring Newsletter should be mailed any day now and will also be 6 <br />sent electronically to those that have requested the push-out. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Councilmember Randle had no report. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Councilmember Jenson stated on March 22, he attended the Legislative Conference along with 11 <br />Councilmember Randle. On March 26, he attended the Joint Meeting with the Planning 12 <br />Commission and Worksession along with Councilmembers Randle and Gray. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mayor Faust stated he attended the Legislative Conference during which they were able to 15 <br />connect with many legislators. He explained the retainage fee and contacted Senator Laine. 16 <br /> 17 <br />VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Mr. Thomas Issacson, 2604 Pahl Avenue, stated he appreciated the traffic study on 27th Avenue 20 <br />and had concerns if there is another development on 27th Avenue. He noted there was discussion 21 <br />of making it one-way and he is concerned with the street being used as a cut-through. He is also 22 <br />concerned about the 80 school age kids who live in the neighborhood and their safety. Mr. 23 <br />Issacson stated he would like to work with the City to address driver behavior. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Ms. Mary Jackson, 3605 37th Avenue, raised the issue of sidewalks, the construction project at 26 <br />Wilshire School, and the sidewalk on Highcrest that has been demolished. She is concerned with 27 <br />the bike and pedestrian traffic safety during this construction since there have been many high-28 <br />risk situations with people walking on the street due to the absence of the sidewalk. Ms. Jackson 29 <br />stated she believes there needs to be a temporary route per ADA requirements as it is a tragedy 30 <br />waiting to happen. She suggested the development plans need to be reviewed for safety of 31 <br />children. Mayor Faust asked Ms. Jackson if she spoke with the school district. Ms. Jackson 32 <br />asked Mayor Faust to contact the school district and stated the sidewalk is public property as 33 <br />well as the street. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Mr. Gene Bird, 2509 Silver Lane, asked Councilmember Randle if the Council or Mayor Faust 36 <br />had asked him to submit an application for the Councilmember seat he now has. Councilmember 37 <br />Randle responded no. 38 <br /> 39 <br />In regard to the Worksession held at the Marriott in Brooklyn Park, Mr. Bird wanted to know 40 <br />what the Mayor and Council thought were the dividends from this retreat will be. Mayor Faust 41 <br />stated the plan that comes out of it every year is shared with the residents. Mayor Faust stated it 42 <br />saves a lot of money and helps the Council to move forward. 43 <br /> 44 <br />13
