2017 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

27

Safety Committee
The Safety Committee is comprised of employees representing the City departments. The
purpose of the Safety Committee is to promote continued training, education, and
communication on safety-related issues to all city employees and to provide and maintain a safe
and healthy work environment. In 2017, the City of St. Anthony safety committee met ten times
throught the year to discuss and address any safety related issues or topics that are occurring
within the various City facilities.
The Committee’s responsibilities are to:
· Serve as a means of communication for employees regarding workplace safety
hazards, issues, and concerns;
· Review and make recommendations regarding the City’s safety program;
· Review incidents and make recommendations to prevent future occurrences;
· Maintain the safety incentive program;
· Keep employees informed of safety policies, training programs, and other safety information.
With the assistance of the City’s safety consultant (Integrated Loss Control), the City’s safety
committee and department heads implemented the City’s new safety manual in 2013 and has
continued to evaluate and enhance the safety program since. The safety manual complies with
all applicable OSHA laws and regulations that impact the City of St. Anthony. The safety
manual is available on-line for staff members to review on the City’s intranet site.
In 2017, the City of St. Anthony continued to implement the safety training program for all
employees. Right to Know/AWAIR and other safety related training were provided to all City
staff members. The safety training program ensures that all required safety training topics are
provided to City staff on an annual basis.
In 2017, the City of St. Anthony and ILC conducted walk through safety inspections at city hall,
public works facility, fire department, and liquor stores. The safety inspections are used to
identify, educate, and correct any safety issues or concerns that may arise at the various City
facilities. The City of St. Anthony is looking forward to continued growth and development of
its safety program in 2018.
