2017 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota 50 PRELIMINARY PLAT FOR THE RE-DEVELOPMENT OF LOWRY GROVE MANUFACTURED HOME PARK The Village, LLC made official application for a large re-development project called Southern Gateway on the former Lowry Grove Manufactured Home park. The initial project called for over 800 units of townhomes, multi-family, senior, and affordable housing on the site and included Bremer Bank. The plans were denied, based on incompatibility with the comprehensive plan, and the developer has revised their plans to meet the plan. The revised plan, showing 430 units, does not include the Bremer site, and includes senior and market rate housing. This revised plan will be reviewed by the city in 2018. OPEN TO BUSINESS Open to Business provides one on one business counseling to current and prospective entrepreneurs. Consultants work with residents and businesses to develop a strong business plan, identify challenges and opportunities, and to tailor solutions. In addition to direct consulting, Open to Business program staff can link entrepreneurs with additional resources to help them succeed, including training programs, community or governmental services, financial resources and industry and business professionals. In 2017, Open to Business staff worked with St. Anthony clients on real estate analysis, strategic planning, marketing, cash flow analysis and projections and loan packaging for a variety of businesses. Open to Business worked with five St. Anthony entrepreneurs providing over 20 hours of technical assistance. One client says “Thanks so much for meeting with me yesterday.
