2018-19 Youth Board, Commission and Council Application
Please rank your choices (1= first choice; 2= second choice, etc.). Please only number those
that you are interested in.

St. Anthony New Brighton Family Services Collaborative:
The Family Services Collaborative is a consortium of groups who have a vested interest in the families of the
community. Its mission is to identify the needs of the youth in the community and invest in their healthy
development while empowering our families, building community, and bridging generations. The values of the
Collaborative include building assets in the youth, educate and strengthen families, eliminate the stigma of mental
illness, provide safe and affordable activities, enhance community awareness, collaborate with other
programs/providers, assist in school transitions, and curb at-risk behavior. The Collaborative has launched such
community programs as St. Anthony Community Theatre, St. Anthony Battle of the Bands, Mental Health
Therapists in Schools, Read 180, and the St. Anthony Villagers for Equity and Community.
Typically meets on Wednesday evenings, three times per year at 6:30 p.m. in CS 9 of the Community Center.

Community Services Advisory Council:
The Community Services Advisory Council is committed to providing all residents lifelong learning
opportunities through educational, recreational, social, and cultural programs and activities. Various community
organizations are represented on this Council. Meetings are open to the public. Typically meets on the first
Thursday of each month in September, November, February, and April at 6 p.m. in the Community Center.

SANB Health and Safety Committee:
The District Health and Safety Committee is a committee with representation from all employee groups
and administration. Its role is to oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of
the District’s employee health and safety program; facilitate communication between employees and
administration; and to promote employee involvement in the program. Safety Committees are a requirement of
Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry standards. The District committee meets four times per year. All
members are responsible for attending and participating in the meetings. Committee members are also
responsible for bringing employee concerns and ideas to the committee for discussion and action; keeping up-to--
date on safety regulations, procedures and practices; providing suggestions and ideas on issues such as
communication strategies and recognition/reward programs; and promoting safety at their work place.
Typically meets quarterly over the lunch hour in the Media Center.

St. Anthony Athletics and Activities Advisory Committee (2 students)
Athletics and activities are a significant part of many students’ lives within the St. Anthony – New Brighton
School District. As an extension of our curricular programs, athletics and activities programs promote life skills
and instill lessons that cannot always be taught in a classroom. We believe athletics and activities programs play
an important role in educating the whole child. It is a privilege to participate in high school activities, a privilege
that when properly executed builds connections to our schools, relationships with others, pride in St. Anthony
Village High School, and fosters positive youth development. Even with the many benefits of participation and
school involvement, our programming is not always perfect and we continually strive to identify and address
areas in need of improvement. Similar to the collaborative nature of our groups and teams, successfully
executing our high school athletics and activities is a team effort consisting of our school’s students, parents,
community, and staff members. From time-to-time questions arise that are best answered with broad
representation of our many important stakeholders. Members of the St. Anthony Athletics and Activities
Advisory Committee serve in an advisory role to provide feedback and input on matters related to St. Anthony –
New Brighton Schools activities and athletics. This group has three scheduled meetings to discuss various issues
related to our athletics and activities offerings. From time-to-time when issues arise special meetings may be
called. The SAAAC will be made up of parents, students, community members, alumni, advisors, coaches,
Booster representatives, and administration. This committee has three-year terms, except in the case of the
student. Students will be on the committee until they graduate. Typically meets three times per year at 4:30 p.m.
in the High School/Middle School Media Center.
