ANTHONY 1 <br />CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 2 <br />AUGUST 14, 2018 3 <br />4 <br />CALL TO ORDER. 5 <br />6 <br />Mayor Faust called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 7 <br />8 <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. 9 <br />10 <br />Mayor Faust invited the Council and audience to join him in the Pledge of Allegiance. 11 <br />12 <br />ROLL CALL. 13 <br />14 <br />Present: Mayor Faust, Councilmembers Gray, Jenson, Randle and Stille. 15 <br />Absent: None 16 <br />Also Present: City Manager Mark Casey and St. Anthony – New Brighton School Superintendent 17 <br />Renee Corneille 18 <br />19 <br />CONSIDERATION, DISCUSSION, AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON ALL OF THE FOLLOWING 20 <br />ITEMS. 21 <br />22 <br />I. APPROVAL OF AUGUST 14, 2018 CITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA. 23 <br />24 <br />Motion by Councilmember Stille, seconded by Councilmember Jenson, to approve the City 25 <br />Council Meeting Agenda of August 14, 2018 as presented. 26 <br />27 <br />Motion carried 5-0. 28 <br />29 <br />II. PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS 30 <br />31 <br />A.St. Anthony – New Brighton School District Update.32 <br />33 <br />Superintendent Renee Corneille provided a PowerPoint update and introduction to herself as well 34 <br />as goals for the school district. She is a resident of St. Anthony and has two children attending 35 <br />Wilshire School. Dr. Corneille’s purpose statement and moral imperative were reviewed. 36 <br />37 <br />Mayor Faust thanked Dr. Corneille for her update. Councilmember Stille stated he is impressed 38 <br />and looks forward to working with the School Board. 39 <br />40 <br />Councilmember Randle noted he heard the phrase “There is no such thing as other people’s 41 <br />children” while he was growing up. He asked what challenges Dr. Corneille sees and she 42 <br />responded it is meeting kids where they are at and partnering with parents. 43 <br />44 <br />Councilmember Jenson asked what interested her in coming to St. Anthony. Dr. Corneille 45 <br />responded it was a balanced discussion with the family. They wanted to live in St. Anthony 46 <br />before the job was open. 47 <br />48 <br />1
