City Council Regular Meeting Minutes
August 28, 2018
Page 6

Ms. Sandy Sherman, 400 Foss Road, stated she has spoken before on the supposed affordable 1
housing in St. Anthony, finding those units are way beyond their means as there is no affordable 2
housing at 30% AMI. She stated there is not affordable housing in St. Anthony and it is needed, 3
noting other cities are finding ways to have initiatives for affordable housing. She believed the 4
suggestions residents made on the Comprehensive Plan were not heard. They have come before 5
Council the last two years asking for help. Ms. Sherman stated she thinks Brad Hoyt is a 6
scumbag and there is not a person in this room that supports Brad Hoyt. Now there is another 7
lawsuit and it’s the fourth one so she is concerned about the financial impact on the City. She 8
stated the residents came to the Council years ago for help in fixing up Lowry Grove and the 9
Council created this problem because they have no leadership ability. 10
11
Ms. Nancy Robinett, 3408 31st Avenue NE, stated the City did a ‘bum’s rush’ against the people 12
of Lowry Grove in the fall of 2016 because the City had to do one thing in order for the new 13
owner/developer to evict the residents of Lowry Grove. The City appointed a third-party 14
evaluator on a 5-0 vote, to which residents voiced their opposition. She believed the City should 15
have stood up and supported residents at that time, the City needs to step in and do things to 16
protect residents when there are disputes. She believed the Council made the wrong decision and 17
it affected over 100 households. 18
19
IX. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS – NONE. 20
21
X. ADJOURNMENT. 22
23
Mayor Faust adjourned the meeting at 8:20 p.m. 24
25
26
Respectfully submitted, 27
Debbie Wolfe 28
TimeSaver off Site Secretarial, Inc. 29
30
31
Mayor 32
ATTEST: 33
City Clerk 34
35
8
