Presentation of the Parks Cleanup Event held in April, 2018 3 <br /> 4 <br />Citizens for Sustainability Representative Lona Doolan provided a power point updating the 5 <br />Parks Commission on the Earth Day Clean-Up. Kristin Mroz also presented information. The 6 <br />Earth Day Clean Up was held on May 5 with 3 parks being cleaned at Salo Park, Trillium 7 <br />Park pruning and buckthorn removal and Silver Point park Clean-up. Photographs of the 8 <br />clean-up were shown to the Commission. 9 <br /> 10 <br />The Citizens for Sustainability is now preparing for organics recycling and will help develop 11 <br />the communications plan and education manual as well as promote it within the community. 12 <br />The will have a booth at VillageFest and participate in the parade promoting organics and 13 <br />passing out bins and bags and promoting neighborhood cleanup kits. They are planning for 14 <br />the Fall Sustainability Fair. 15 <br /> 16 <br />SANB School Board Representative Dr. Palmer asked if there is a cost for the clean-up kits. 17 <br />Ms. Kristin Mroz stated there is no charge. She asked when the Sustainability Fair is 18 <br />scheduled and Ms. Doolan stated it will be November 17 1-4pm 19 <br /> 20 <br />Mr. Hartman thanked them for all their help. 21 <br /> 22 <br />D. Presentation of the Online Sustainability Tour Map 23 <br /> 24 <br />Director of Public Works, Jay Hartman provided an overview and updates on the City of St. 25 <br />Anthony Sustainability map. He reviewed the sustainability projects. All of the information 26 <br />presented is available on the City’s website. A video of the St. Anthony Regional Stormwater 27 <br />Treatment and Research System was shown. Mr. Hartman stated once again St. Anthony will 28 <br />receive Step 5 Rating at the LOMC Conference. A GreenCorps member will be coming to the 29 <br />City again this year. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Commissioner Jordahl-Redlin asked if there were plans for the GreenCorps member to hold a 32 <br />community meeting to get some input for some things the community would like to see the 33 <br />member focus on. The GreenCorps member will start October 1, 2018. 34 <br /> 35 <br />E. Recommendation to City Council to approve the site located at the open grass 36 <br />area south of the City Hall/Community Center building to be developed for use as 37 <br />an Organics Recycling drop off site. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Chair Scott Bentz reviewed at the April 24, 2018 City Council meeting, the Council tasked the 40 <br />Parks Commission with recommending a site to develop as an Organics Recycling Drop-off. 41 <br />The site would be available to all St. Anthony residents to bring their recyclable organics to 42 <br />drop off and be taken away for composting. The Commission members initially did research 43 <br />on their own and then met on May 17, 2018 to discuss options. 44 <br /> 45
