2018 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

12

such as biking, walking and public transit, and working with residents to make their homes
more energy efficient.
MN GreenCorps is an 11-month AmeriCorps program coordinated by the Minnesota Pollution
Control Agency. The program is an effort to preserve and protect Minnesota’s environment
while training a new generation of environmental professionals. It first began in 2009, funded
by grants from ServeAmerica and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Minette will serve as St. Anthony’s GreenCorps member through August 2019.
More information will be presented in the Public Works Department’s Annual Report.

ORGANICS DROP OFF SITE
In April the City Council approved an organics pilot program for all St.
Anthony residents. The Parks Commission discussed placement of the
site, and in June the City Council approved the site to be constructed on
the south end of the Community Center parking lot. Staff reached out
to both Hennepin and Ramsey Counties to explore possible
partnerships for implementing an organics drop off site and ultimately
partnered with Ramsey County to build and operate the site at no
additional cost to the city. In August the City Council approved a five
year Joint Powers Agreement with Ramsey County for the organics site.
The organics drop off site was constructed and fully operational just before the end of 2018!
