2018 Annual Report • Fire Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />30 | P a g e <br /> <br />chosen from both Wilshire and St. Charles, where their posters were presented at a City Council <br />meeting and the winner was announced. This year, we had two students whose posters were so <br />well done that we were unable to decide a winner, so we had to choose TWO first place <br />winners. The winner’s poster were then sent onto the state competition. <br />The 7th graders learned hands-only CPR. Learning the basics of CPR and what to do if someone <br />were to go into cardiac arrest. This was an opportunity for students to learn the basics about <br />CPR and prepare them to take the certification test in 9th grade. <br />9th graders at the high school went through a 3- <br />day course with the American Heart <br />Association’s Heart saver CPR. In the state of <br />Minnesota, it is a prerequisite for graduation. <br />With this program continuing to be a success <br />year after year, it is estimated that almost every <br />9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grader that the St. Anthony <br />Village High School has <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Our Open House coincided with Fire Prevention <br />Month. This event gives the community an <br />opportunity to meet the firefighters that serves <br />them. We had numerous safety booths for people to <br />learn about fire and life safety. Our recreational fire <br />and s’mores area allowed children and families to <br />learn about good fire vs. bad fire all while enjoying <br />a nice snack. We had many booths throughout the <br />fire station filled with information on equipment <br />we use and different safety tips for all ages.
