2018 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br />27 | P a g e <br /> <br />placed in SAPD squad cars for officers to distribute to homeless person’s encountered by <br />officers in the community. <br />April: Chief Mangseth, along with the Mayor, City Manager, and other city leaders, met with <br />student leaders from St. Anthony High School to experience and learn more about city <br />government. The exercise was <br />designed to assist students learn the <br />day to day duties of city <br />departments, discover potential <br />government careers, create <br />connections with staff/city <br />council/students, along with <br />strengthen their resumes with <br />government experiences. <br />Officer Rushton attended a cultural festival hosted by St. Anthony High School. <br />May: Officer Lazenberry participated in the Girl Scouts Pinewood Derby. SAPD competed <br />against teams from both the St. Anthony Fire Department and Wilshire Park Elementary. <br />Though our showing improved from the last derby, police were still unsuccessful in victory. <br />We clearly have more work to do here. <br /> <br />Chief Mangseth. Captain Spiess and Officer Lazenberry attended <br />and participated in St. Anthony High School's Dare2BeReal <br />community conversation event on May 9th. Officers engaged in <br />round table discussions on race and equity in America. <br />June: Officers Schlingman, <br />Rushton, Lazenberry and others noted several patrol contacts <br />through the month in which they spoke with children and their <br />parents and rewarded the kids with Dairy Queen Coupons for <br />properly wearing bicycle helmets and safety equipment while <br />riding their bikes. A few stops were made at neighborhood <br />lemonade stands to purchase a refreshment. It turns out our <br />cops prefer fresh lemonade over donuts.
