Parks Commission Meeting Minutes
April 12, 2004
Page 4
1 letter for the Commission to review.
2
3 Commissioner Gebhardt asked if they have made a decision as to who would be doing the plantings for
4 flowers in the park. Public Works Director Hartman stated that several of the homeowners would be
5 helping with the Maplewood extension and that the area near the plaza would have low maintenance
6 perennials.
7
8 Vice Chair Koehntop asked if they had talked to the Village Gardeners to determine their availability.
9 Public Works Director Hartman stated that they did talk with them noting that their schedule is pretty
10 busy. He stated that he would touch base with them again to see where they are at with their work
11 schedule.
12
13 Commissioner Young stated that he recently had the opportunity to use the new tennis courts noting that
14 the courts are really great. He noted that the center strap that provides tension for the nets was missing
15 and asked if this would be addressed. He expressed concerns stating that the center strap is necessary in
16 order to provide the proper tension for the nets. Public Works Director Hartman stated that the nets are
17 brand new and should have included the center strap. He stated that he would check on it and ensure
18 that this is taken care of.
19
20 B. Silver Point Park
42 Chair Jindra asked if Silver Point Park has been seeded. Public Works Director Hartman stated that he
23 would touch base with Todd for an update on the seeding.
24
25 Chair Jindra asked if they had taken down the boards for the rink. Public Works Director Hartman
26 clarified that the boards would not be removed as it is a permanent rink. Chair Jindra asked him to make
27 sure the Boosters are aware of that.
28
29 Chair Jindra noted next month's tour of Central Park and suggested scheduling a tour for the Water
30 Tower and Silver Point Park for the following month. The Commission agreed to meet on Monday,
31 May 10, 2004 at 6:00 p.m., behind the Community Center to take their tour of Central Park.
