Joint Parks Commission and Council Meeting Minutes <br />Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />June 9, 2003 <br />Page 11 <br />1 No Report. <br />3 C. Sports Booster <br />4 <br />5 Mr. Zurbey stated that the Sports Boosters recently did a study to determine the dollar amount for their <br />6 community involvement activities over the past seven months. He stated that the results showed that the <br />7 Boosters contributed $80,000.00 to various programs that benefit the Community. He explained that <br />8 approximately $10,000.00 was contributed to the Sports programs and $70,000.00 to various community <br />9 programs. He stated that the Boosters provided funds for band instruments, community service needs <br />10 and senior programs adding that the benefits would be felt throughout the community. He expressed <br />11 concerns regarding a shortage of funds for sports activities and how the shortage would be handled. He <br />12 explained that he has managed the in-house and traveling baseball/softball teams stating that he no <br />13 longer has the time. He stated that they are going to have to look for funding for someone to manage or <br />14 look for a volunteer. He stated that this should be addressed adding that residents are getting aggravated <br />15 with the amount of travel to get to a game. <br />16 <br />17 VI. OTHER BUSINESS <br />18 <br />19 Commissioner Jenson stated that he would like to acknowledge Mr. Koechlien's efforts throughout the <br />projects. He stated that he came into the program late into the project and has taken on some very <br />difficult tasks. He stated that he has been very responsive to the Commission's concerns and has been <br />22 very forthright with his updates. He stated that he wants to be sure that Mr. Koechlien understands that <br />23 the Commission truly appreciates his work and his efforts. <br />24 <br />25 VII.
