CALL TO ORDER. <br />11 Chair Koehntop called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and welcomed everyone in attendance. <br />12 <br />13 I1. ROLL CALL. <br />14 Present: Chair Doug Koehntop, Vice Chair Erich Young, Commissioners <br />15 Daniel Ganley, and Colleen Hallada. <br />16 <br />17 Absent: Commissioner Michael Sholl <br />18 <br />19 Also Present: Public Works Director Jay Hartman <br />20 <br />21 I11. APPROVAL MARCH 13, 2006 PARKS COMMISSION MINUTES. <br />22 <br />23 Motion by Commissioner Young, second by Commissioner Ganley, to approve the March 13, 2006 <br />?4 Parks Commission meeting minutes. <br />26 Motion carried unanimouslv. <br />27 IV. OVERALL PARK SYSTEM DISCUSSION/COMMENTS <br />28 <br />29 A. Emerald Park <br />30 <br />31 Chair Koehntop stated Emerald Park is still under discussions. They are looking at a few landscape <br />32 architecture options and issues. Close Landscaping will be asked to give a short presentation at the next <br />33 meeting. <br />34 <br />35 B. Fly Balls at the Baseball and Softball Fields <br />36 <br />37 Chair Koehntop brought up the presentation given by Mr. Troy Urdahl, High School Athletic Director, at <br />38 the March 13, 2006 meeting concerning fly balls in the baseball and softball fields. Mr. Urdahl is <br />39 working on ideas for protecting spectators and players. He is in discussion with Public Works Director <br />40 Hartman. <br />41 <br />42 Director Hartman stated he has met with Mr. Urdahl. He pointed out the two issues at Central Park: <br />43 player protection areas and spectator protection. Mr. Urdahl has put together a plan to address these <br />44 issues and is looking at a number of funding and grant sources. Director Hartman believes the design <br />45 Mr. Urdahl has put forth for both the dugout/player protection and the overall spectator area along the <br />walkway will solve these issues. Director Hartman anticipates at least a portion of the improvements <br />should be finished by the end of the season. <br />48 <br />
